150–200 g cheese (Emmental, Gouda or Mozzarella)
1 egg (beaten, for brushing)
Black pepper (optional)
Dried oregano or thyme (optional)
Directions:
Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (top and bottom heat).
Roll out the puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Top with the ham slices and then with the cheese.
Roll the puff pastry tightly into a log.
Cut the log into pieces of about 3–4 cm.
Place the rolls flat on the baking sheet, leaving plenty of space between them.
Brush each piece with beaten egg and sprinkle with pepper and herbs, if desired.
Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until golden brown and nicely risen.
Tips
: Use grated cheese for extra meltability.
Let the pieces rest for 5 minutes after baking before serving.
Serve with mustard, honey-mustard sauce, or garlic sauce.
Variations
: Chicken & cheese: replace ham with fried chicken strips.
Vegetarian: use spinach and feta.
Spicy: add chili flakes or mustard.
