Elena’s eyes widened in shock as she clutched the blanket around her newborn, her voice shaking as she spoke again.
“How can you call him that when he is Victor’s son and carries your family name,” she demanded while looking from one face to another.
“We do not care about that child at all because this family needs a proper heir, not the son of a woman without status or value,” Vanessa snapped with open hostility.
“I already arranged for your belongings to be packed, and they are waiting in the lobby, so you have no reason to stay here any longer,” Vanessa added dismissively.
Elena fell silent for a moment as she wiped away her tears, forcing herself to look carefully at each person who had just shattered her life.
Margaret stood there with ambition burning in her eyes, Vanessa smiled with poisonous satisfaction, and Victor remained frozen without courage or dignity.
She slowly reached for the pen placed beside the documents, her fingers trembling but her expression growing strangely calm.
“Are you absolutely certain about this decision, Victor, because this is your final chance to reconsider everything,” she said with a chilling steadiness.
“Once I sign these papers, I will disappear completely from your life, and you will never see your son again,” she continued while holding his gaze.
“Sign it now because we are doing you a favor by freeing you from a life that never suited you,” Margaret insisted impatiently.
“Alright,” Elena replied quietly, her voice no longer carrying any trace of weakness or hesitation.
Without another word, she signed the documents with a steady hand and tossed them back toward Vanessa, ignoring the sharp pain in her body.
“I hope you find happiness with the choices you have made, and remember this moment for the rest of your lives,” she said while slowly pushing herself upright.
Vanessa and Margaret laughed openly, their amusement echoing cruelly through the sterile room as if they had just won a victory.
“You were never anything but a burden, so leave before we call security,” Vanessa said with a dismissive wave of her hand.
Outside the hospital, heavy rain poured down relentlessly as Elena stepped into the storm while holding Mason close against her chest.
She carried only a small bag and no umbrella, her thin hospital clothes quickly soaked through as cold wind wrapped around her fragile body.
From a window several floors above, Victor, Vanessa, and Margaret watched her struggling figure disappear into the rain below.
“She looks completely pathetic out there, and that child will only make her suffering worse,” Vanessa said with a laugh that carried no empathy.
Victor hesitated for a brief moment and lowered his voice as if unsure of his own feelings.
