Each tooth is connected to an organ in the body: dental pain can be an indicator of future problems.

Most people have experienced toothaches at some point, a discomfort often attributed to cavities, infections, or gum problems. However, the cause isn’t always oral. According to various alternative medicine theories, each tooth is linked to an organ or system in the human body, and pain could be a warning sign indicating potential internal changes.

The link between teeth and organs

There is a “dental meridian map” which suggests that the human body is interconnected by energy channels. For example, persistent pain in an apparently healthy tooth, or even in an extracted tooth, can reveal deeper imbalances.

  • Incisors (front teeth, upper and lower):   These are linked to the kidneys and urinary system. Your pain could indicate problems such as a urinary tract infection, middle ear infection, or even chronic kidney disease.
  • Canines:   They are linked to the liver and gallbladder. Their sensitivity may indicate liver or gallbladder disorders.
