Elon Musk warns of a potential AI collapse that could occur in just a few months.

He asserted that within 30 to 36 months, space will become the most cost-effective location for AI operations. This shift isn’t simply a matter of cost, but rather the very survival of the technology. Musk pointed out that solar cells are already competitive, citing prices of around 25 to 30 cents per watt in China. However, their efficiency is tenfold in orbit. “Installed in space, they cost about ten times less, because batteries become unnecessary,” he argued. This transition to orbital processing could be the only way to circumvent the Earth’s energy shortage and prevent the end of AI development.

The end of work as we know it

Musk’s vision goes far beyond simply developing new technologies; it radically transforms our daily lives. At the recent US-Saudi Investment Forum, he spoke of a future where work will no longer be a matter of survival. He believes that in 10 to 20 years, work will become a choice, an activity pursued for pleasure rather than to earn a living.

He used a simple and apt comparison to explain this change: gardening. Today, you can buy tomatoes at the store or grow them yourself. It’s more difficult, certainly, but many do it for pleasure. Musk believes that our careers will eventually become similar: we will work by choice, not by obligation.

To achieve this, Musk is betting heavily on  robots to handle the most arduous tasks.  He envisions millions of humanoid robots taking care of the essential tasks for the economy to function. This is a major focus for Tesla right now, as he aims for his “Optimus” robots to eventually represent the majority of the company’s value.
