“Mishka had no other choice!” Marina laughed. “I designed the interior!”
“You can see!” Svetlana Olegovna muttered quietly and dissatisfiedly.
“What are you saying?” Marina didn’t hear. “I didn’t understand!”
“Ignore it!” the woman waved her hand. “I’m talking to myself!” “And what time will my son be home? He’s supposed to have the day off today!”
“I don’t know! He didn’t say anything, he just left and ran away! But I don’t think he’ll be home before three! I can call him and tell him you’re here! I’ll grab the phone and call him right away!” Marina said, heading to the kitchen for her phone.
“No, no!” Svetlana Olegovna stopped her daughter-in-law. “There’s no need to call him! Don’t distract him from his work!”
“And by the way, why did you come alone? Where’s Miszka’s father, Boris Wiktorowicz? You usually come together!”
“She has her own things to do! She’ll be arriving tomorrow! And I decided to arrive by train a day early and surprise Miszka!”
“I see!” said Marina. “Oh, and the tea’s probably already brewed! Let’s go to the kitchen and have some tea. I’ve brought out cookies, candies, and rolls! You haven’t had breakfast yet, have you?” suggested her daughter-in-law.
Svetlana Olegovna followed Marina. She entered the kitchen, looked at everything with contempt. She muttered something unintelligible under her breath, and sat down at the table.
Marina poured herself and her mother-in-law some freshly brewed tea and sat down next to them.
— And why don’t you go to work too? Hmm, Marino? You used to work like all normal people!
“What difference does it make how I earn money for my family? The important thing is that I don’t sit around doing nothing! And I don’t pull Miszka’s ears like his ex…”
“Just don’t slander Swietoczka, she’s a good girl! She just grew up in a family where women take care of the house and men earn the money! So she did everything right!”
